This week I've been messing around doing some plein aire painting. I completed four little studies and wasn't satisfied with any of them. I couldn't get the values and the composition right. The constantly changing light challenged me significantly. Finally I finished this little 5x7 inch study and felt satisfied with it. I began with a wash of alizarin crimson, then mixed some veridian with the alizarin for the darkest tone. Some Naples yellow and a little sap green helped me to create some sunny hues for the grass in the foreground. This one will probably be used as a reference for a larger painting.
