Boy and Dog

This painting is 5x7 inches and is one of several I've worked on recently with a subject of people and thier dogs. Spending the week of July 4th at the beach provided me with a much needed dose of sunshine and a lot of inspiration for painting. Dogs seem to love the beach even more than the people who take them there. Wide open spaces, unusual smells, and lots of fun draw our dogs to the beach as well as ourselves.

Walking Rascal--Original Oil Painting

The past couple of evenings I have visited the off-leash dog park by he Chambers Bay Golf Course with my daughter and her dog. It is a lovely setting on the shores of Puget Sound and was developed strickly with the volunteer efforts of Sundogs. It is such a delight to see the dogs frolicking, running, chasing balls, and frisbees. At times there is nothing visible but long tounges and wagging tails. But all good things must end as the park closes at dusk. This little 5x7 inch study was inspired by the end of a dog park session as an owner walked her little rascal back toward the car.

Guilty or Not Guilty? Original American Dog Portrait

I've been dog sitting this weekend--gotta love 'em. Although this isn't the dog I spent my weekend with, this one is definitely of the kind that gets into mischief. He is 5x7 inches on a gessoed MDF hardboard panel. When he is dry, I will list him for sale in my Etsy Gallery.

Puppy Love--Australian Shepherd Puppy Portrait

Here he is, the newest member of our family. Chaco, with one blue eye and one green eye, has charmed his way into everyone's graces. He loves to play, romp, sleep, and chew on things he shouldn't. My daughter wants me to contact Akilah Australian Shepherds and find a second puppy to keep him company--not sure that will be happening any time soon. This portrait is an 8x10 inch oil painting on a gessoed hardboard.

Beagle--Original Dog Portrait Painting

I worked all morning on a large painting. When I finaly took a break, this little 4x6 inch beagle found his way into my heart and onto my canvas. He is actually the third in a series of dog faces I've been working on. I'm not sure how many will eventually be completed, but for now it is just fun to watch their faces emerge. He was created with oil paint on a canvas panel.

Dog Nose--Original Oil Painting Dog Portrait

This guy was so fun to paint--makes me think I'll do a few more dogs. This one is just 4x5 inches, but I think it would be fun to create him again in a large size. I have some 24x30 inch canvases in my basement that need some paint. I'll sleep on it. Hope you enjoy viewing this little Dog Nose portrait as much as I did painting it.
