Tulip Season Art

Tulip season is almost over. These lovely treats have such a short life, even in the Pacific Northwest where spring is cool and damp. This painting is 5x7 inches on a canvas panel. It can be purchased for $35.00 plus $6.50 for shipping to US addresses and will extend that early spring feeling that exits before we're ready. Visit my online gallery, Small Impressions to see other small floral paintings, landscapes, and still life art.

Yard Work and Paint

This morning was spent in the studio, dabbing around on this and that. At about noon, I left my dabbing behind with this little painting sitting on the drying shelf and headed out to the garden. Planted geraniums, tomatoes, zuchinni, and violas. Spring is in the air! This painting is 5x7 inches on a canvas panel.

Blue Vase and Sunshine

It has been raining for a week and a wind/rain storm is predicted this afternoon. I need a little sunshine, so I painted sunflowers. I'm looking forward to an end to the drizzle gray. Hiding in my studio and painting sunny ideas is where I plan to spend my day. The painting is 5x7 inches on a hardboard panel.

Viola--The Face of Spring

The weather has been storming for the past three days--drenching rain, wind, and lightening. In spite of it, little Violas are showing their faces in yards up and down the block. They look at the weather and all its energy like curious children anticipating the sunshine. The glimmer of spring these little flowers bring is what inspired this 5x7 inch painting. I'm not typically a painter of florals, but with ugly weather, their color is encouraging my efforts. When this one dries, it will be listed for sale in my online gallery, Small Impressions. Drop in and see the small format oil paintings that are for sale there.

Purple Tulips--Original Oil Painting

It is a happy new year! Though I'm not usually a painter of flowers, every once in a while my brush moves in the floral directon. This 5x7 inch painting emerged after I recently finished reading Michael Pollan's book The Botany of Desire. His prose are delightful and his descriptions of colorful tulips in the second chapter on the desire for beauty moved me in a floral direction. It will find its way to Small Impressions Gallery when it is dry.

Poinsettia--Original Floral Oil Painting

Happy Holidays! Today's painting is a 16x20 inch oil painting I created several years ago. It seemed fitting for today's posting. I am ready to take a break from my studio related work for a few days and enjoy family and friends. Finishing and submitting a new gallery at 1000 Markets is the conclusion of my business efforts for today. My new gallery is called Impressions Gallery. At this point all that is visible is my banner and avitar. When my work goes live, I will post a notice and you will be able to view what I've been working on for the past week. In the meantime, I hope all my readers have a lovely holiday.

Poppy

8 x 10 Oil on canvas covered hardboard

I am getting tired of wet, gray, drizzle, so I painted this little reminder of summer sunshine. I hope it cheers your day like it did mine.
