Goose Speak

It was a honking good day even though the weather was bad and a leak sprang through our ceiling last night. After strategically placing a bucket in the hallway, I spent the rest of the day imagining myself walking through summer grass. This guy joined me in my imaginings, emerged from my palette, and placed himself on this 4x6 inch canvas. He has joined some of my other animal paintings for sale. Click here to view him in a gallery or put him in a shopping cart.

Golden Fleece

Here she is, the sheep with the golden fleece. Some of you may have seen my earlier version of this sheep. Originally painted on a 5x7 inch canvas panel, I decided the colors were so rich that I wanted to paint her again in a larger size. This painting is 9x12 inches and is painted on stretched canvas. It is a habit of mine to audition paintings in small sizes and then, if I like the outcome, enlarging the painting. Sometimes it works great and sometimes paintings are meant to remain small. This painting translated very well to a slightly larger version. The Painting is for sale online for $135.00 plus $12.00 for shipping to US addresses at the Small Impressions Gallery.

A Big Dog Day

I love the nature of the Great Dane. They are always so unexpected--really big, usually friendly, and almost always awkward. A few days ago when getting coffee at our local coffee shop, my daughter grabbed my hand and said, "You gotta see something." She took me to the window and pointed to a car in the parking lot with the sun roof open. Amazingly, one of these big boys was sitting in the back seat of the car with his head sticking out of the sun roof looking very contented. In response to my love of these big dogs, I painted this fun little painting. It is 5x7 inches on a canvas panel. SOLD

Running with Dogs

This little painting is 4x5 inches, a very small size, even for me, but it seems to have turned out well. As I worked, I was concentrating on the shapes and the shadows. My hope was to capture the high contrast of the afternoon sunlight. It was a fun subject and I think it was successful.

A Sweet Faced Primate

This guy had such a wonderfully peaceful look on his face, I just had to take some time and paint his portrait. His eyes glisten and he looks like he's wearing a grin. The painting is 5x7 inches on a canvas panel. I used a palette of ultramarine blue, burnt sienna, alizarin crimson, and white. It was a great way to spend a Sunday morning.

Good-bye Cleo--I enjoyed your company!

It is with mixed emotions that I say good-bye to Cleo, my favorite little puppy painting. Cleo is a 5x7 inch oil painting on a Raymar Canvas Panel. She has been good company, but has sold to a new owner and will no longer look at me while I sit in my studio and ponder.

Spring Chick, Original Oil Painting, Animal Portrait

The season for new beginnings is almost here. Baby chicks have always been a symbol of birth and new life, and painting this one was a new challenge for me. She was born on a 5x7 inch Raymar Canvas Panel, created with oil paint, and can be purchased for the Easter holiday by visiting my online gallery, Small Impressions. For $40.00 plus $6.50 for shipping to US addresses, she will move from my home to yours. She will easily fit into a standard size frame or might be displayed on a small table top easel though she is sold unframed and purchase does not include an easel.
