Rocks and Rapids--Original American Oil Painting

This is today's efforts. This painting is another one with a red underpainting. I really like the way the red shows through and adds warmth. This oil painting was done on an 8 x 10 hardboard panel.

This is gorgeous! I love the subtle hints of richness the red underpainting gives it! Whenever I use an underpainting, I end up overworking the painting anyway, and it pretty much disappears. You've got great technique and restraint to still have some showing! Stunning stunning painting.

underpaintings do so much of the work for you! love the energy, it wouldn't have worked without the red underpainting, as it is, it rocks:)
