This weekend the weather was beautiful so I took advantage of it and hiked one of my favorite suburban trails, the Soundview Trail. It is located near the Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wasington. The trail sweeps down from Grandview Drive toward Puget Sound. In route, hikers pass a number of small ponds. This painting is based on a photo I took of one of the ponds. The brilliant blue sky was reflected in the water. California Poppies sprinkled themselves amongst the lush green grass of the shoreline and bright green algae floated on the blue surface of the pond. It was a color feast for tired winter eyes. With a new brush in hand and a desire for abstract painting, I created this little 5x7 inch oil painting. Technorati tags:
