Move Your Heart--Buy Art!

This afternoon I've been thinking about what makes people want to collect art. There are numerous opinions on this question, but just about every article read or opinion heard contains the idea that collectors should choose artwork that moves them, not artwork that decorates the room. Decorating the room is fine, but if that is your impetus for buying art, it is likely you will soon tire of it and wish for something different. Instead, buy art that has an emotional connection for you. The emotional connection will likely be something very personal and may not match your room at all. It will engage your heart every time you enter the room. It will last a life time, and it will become an heirloom to pass on to those you love. Today's painting is available for purchase at Northwest Fine Woodworking in Seattle's Pioneer Square.

For me, it's always about some mystical connection - be it emotional, spiritual or some unidentifiable tug.

Nice post. :)

I think that's why we paint art too. Because it moves us.
