This little 5x7 inch oil painting is another of my black gesso still life paintings. The title is based on a Billie Holiday song, "Strange Fruit." It is a very haunting song, especially when the history behind the song is understood. My little fruit painting borrows the name, but doesn't compare when it comes to artistic vision of the song's lyrics. When this painting dries, it will join some of my other small format still life paintings at Small Impressions Gallery. Technorati tags:
