A couple of weeks ago, I experimented with the technique of impasto (thick paint) and this 5 x 7 inch oil painting is the result. These little pears sat by my studio window as the sun dribbled across them. Applying such thick paint was quite an adventure and it took a good couple of weeks for it to finally dry, but it creates a wonderfully rich texture. You can see a closeup here:
