Peach Harvest

Visiting the farmers' market recently led me to painting peaches.  Bright, colorful, and juicy, my brush created several square format paintings of little fruit gems.  The original oil painting is 6x6 inches on stretched canvas.  I'm also excited that this painting can be reproduced in square format up to size 36x36 inches, just right for a kitchen wall.  In addition to this little creation, I have a collection of square format art that needs to find a home.  In the next few weeks I'll be adding to this collection. I hope you will stop by.  If you are interested in purchasing the original, I will be listing it in my Etsy Shop in the very near future.

Photographing Art

When I photograph my paintings, I try to use natural light.  The best is a cloudy, overcast day.  The trouble is that this time of year it is hard to find just the right day.  It has been two weeks since the light has worked for me.  It has either been pouring rain, windy, or bright and sunny.  A nice overcast day was a long time coming.  Fortunately, the weather cooperated yesterday and I was able to capture the images of a dozen little paintings.  This painting is an original oil painting on a canvas panel, sized 4x5 inches.  It has already SOLD, but you can find more little paintings in my Etsy shop.  Please visit to see all of my little tropical fruit paintings and still life paintings.

Pear Shadows Still Life Oil Painting

I'm still on a fruit binge.  I couldn't resist the color of these luscious pears.  They come home colored green, sit on my counter for a few days and turn a wonderful, sweet yellow.  A bowl of them in my studio while the wind whips and the rain pours reminds me that there is sunshine stored in these fabulous little orbs.  The paint isn't quite dry on the original, but when it does, the 8x10 inch oil painting will be listed for sale in my Etsy Shop where I sell my small originals.  Prints are also available from my website in sizes from 6x8 inches through 36x48 inches.  The entire collection of prints is available here.  I hope you will stop by.

Fruit Binge

I'm on a binge; a binge for painting fruit.  I go through these stages where I want color.  Fresh fruit provides it for me.  Three red apples, one with only a half life left, were my subject for this original oil painting.  It was created on a 6x6 inch gallery canvas.  When it dries, I will sell the original in my Etsy Shop.  Reproduction prints on archival paper, canvas, acrylic, or metal are also available from my website in sizes up to 35x36 inches.

End of the Season

This year was an amazing year for growing tomatoes.  Here it is almost December and my crop of Sweet 100's is finally at an end.  Every year I plant two or three of these prolific producers.  Once they start producing clumps of sweet little fruits, they keep it up until the weather calls it to a close.  Mid-October is usually the end of the season when the weather starts to get cold and sharp rains split the fruit, but this year they held on until about a week ago.  Heavy rain and cold mornings called an end to our party.  This little 5x7 inch oil painting pays tribute to these wonderful plants.  This painting has SOLD, but you can visit my Etsy Shop  to view more of my small fruit paintings.

Sweets from the Garden

I'm longing to put some tomato plants out in the garden, but it has been way too cold. Painting these sweet little treats was the next best thing. The painting is 4x6 inches, oil on canvas panel. They have joined some of my other paintings of fruits and vegetables in the Small Impressions Gallery. Visit here to see it in the gallery or make a purchase.

Lemon Binge

I'm back to painting lemons again--guess I am on a binge. The smell of fresh lemons and the yellow warmth keeps me coming back to this tropical subject. If I could only be picking these off a tree in a sunny climate, my dreams would come true. The painting is 5x7 inches on a canvas panel. Now that it is dry, it has joined some of my other tropical fruit paintings at the Small Impressions Gallery. Click here to view it in the gallery or put it in a shopping cart.

Triple Pear

Winter weather has kept me in the studio rather than out in the world, but a trio of pears succeeded in providing some inspiration for my anxious paintbrush. When I finished the family portrait, I ate one. So sweet! The painting is 5x7 inches on a canvas panel and will replace six other small fruit paintings that recently sold at the Small Impressions Gallery. It can be viewed in the Gallery or put in a shopping cart by clicking here.

Three Minus One

A visit to our local produce market resulted in the purchase of some beautiful pears. There were three, but I ate one. It was sweet and crunchy. My next painting may only be a single pear. This little painting is 4x6 inches. It will join some of my other small still life paintings of fruits and vegetables that are for sale at my Etsy Gallery when it dries. This afternoon I will probably create a companion piece.

Pears and Canvas

Recently I bought a case of 6x8 inch stretched canvases. Painting on canvas is my favorite surface. The way the brush drags and the way the paint spreads feels good; I've been painting on these little canvases for the past couple of days and thoroughly enjoying it. This morning I went to my favorite fruit stand, bought three of these little green pears, came home and began painting. When the paint is dry, these little studies will be for sale at my Etsy Gallery, Small Impressions. Click here to view some of my other small fruit paintings.

Up Close

Grapes up close have so many different colors and such a translucent quality. Painting these challenged me to keep the colors clear. With too much blending, mud happens very quickly. The painting is 5x7 inches on a Raymar panel and can be purchased for $50.00 plus $6.50 for shipping to US addresses by clicking on this link.
