This painting is from the current Different Strokes Challenge reference. I love doing these challenges because they are usually out of my comfort zone. Moving beyond what is comfortable is necessary in order to improve at anything. Seldom do I paint vehicles and a cityscape requires careful attention to perspective. I'm fairly satisfied with the results. The buildings resemble buildings and the cars resemble cars. I wasn't fond of painting with so much gray. Clear, bright color is what draws me to paint, but I didn't want the results to be too exaggerated. The yellow of the taxi helped to satisfy my color needs. The painting is 5x7 inches on a gessoed hardboard panel. Technorati tags:
