Lately I've been practicing the painting of water. It is a good little challenge for me. Trying to make sure it looks like water and not a path or a road seems to be easiest for me when reflections are present. This 8x10 inch oil painting is a typical western Washington State river with evergreen trees providing a considerable part of the surrounding vegetation. I'm fairly satisfied with the outcome of the water, but the yellow trees still need some work. When it dries, I may go in and do some touch ups, but for now I'll take a break and ponder some more references for future water practice.
