I painted this little 5x7 inch oil painting in February after a walk on the Soundview Trail in University Place, Washington. It was definitely still winter. The trees were bare and just a trace of sunlight could be seen on the otherwise cold, damp landscape. I tried to depict that trace of sunlight in the midst of cold.
